The Royal Device MIRANDA
& LADY HORNs are a CONSTANT DIRECTIVITY 90° Hi-Horn expecially designed to reproduce a frequency range starting from
2 KHz to 20 KHz . It is made all in solid wood and features NO
FRONTAL PHASE ALIGNER
A
particular type of
THROAT has been designed to direct couple a SEAS .75" driver
and the frequency response starts from 2 Khz with an efficiency of 100 dB/1W/ 1m up to 18.5 Khz.
The horns are completely
worked out starting from a wood mono-block. This choice together
with the dimensions of the horn due to the high frequency range
involved practically avoids all resonances that normally
materials as A.B.S., fiberglass or similars and metal add to
sound producing HI-COLORATION.
LADY Horn
MIRANDA Horn 120 mm
The CONSTANT DIRECTIVITY
feature helps to release the very best smoothing treble
reproduction ever had in the treble range. Central stereo imaging
remains constant also moving listening point toward the speakers.
The horn rotation helps to fix frequency and phase response. These horns has been specially
designed for Royal Device
loudspeaker system (MIRANDA is now used also onto the ANNA & ERICA HORN
models) and acoustic crossed only
starting from 9.5 KHz. The horn mounting gives the maximum
speaker decoupling and suite easy listening positioning. The
possibility to move forward/back or to rotate the horn makes the
speaker a real "easy adapt" AUDIO system. The frequency
response can be regulated into the acoustic cross of the treble
range depending on the listening point placement. Even the height
of the ear in this case won't be anymore a problem. The below
graph shows some possibilities. The curve in the middle is the
normal positioning (ear at horn height). The upper curve is
obtained by moving the horn towards the front of the speaker (or
leaving the horn in normal position and having ears higher then
horn height). The lower curve is the response moving it back of
few millimeters in respect to the normal horn positioning (or
leaving the horn in normal position and having ears lower then
horn height). In any of this cases phase between drivers (woofer
& horn) remains perfectly matched.

The
Royal
Device
RD-HORN is a Hi-Horn
expecially designed to reproduce a frequency range starting from
2 KHz to 20 KHz . It is made all in solid wood (walnut, cherry or
MDF laquered) and features NO FRONTAL PHASE ALIGNER
A particular type of
THROAT has been designed to DIRECT couple a SEAS .75" driver
and the frequency response is flat starting from 2.5 KHz with an
efficiency of 101 dB/1W/ 1m (+/- 2dB) up to 17.5 Khz.
The solid wood together
with the dimensions of the horn due to the high frequency range
involved practically avoids all resonances that normally
materials as A.B.S., fiberglass or similars and metal add to
sound producing Hi-COLORATION.
The horn is completely
worked out starting from a mono-block of wood made by several
solid staves 1" thick. These horns have been expecially
designed for the DIANA and LAURA Royal Device loudspeakers.
Hereby are shown the MLS
measures made on axis at one meter distance with 1/3 octave
smoothing (fig.1 ) and 1/12 octave smoothing (fig.2). Measures
are made with 2 meters standard (2.5 mm section) cable. RD-BW CABLE
improves high frequency response above 17 KHz of about +1.8 dBs.
